We wanted to go somewhere in our neighbourhood for supper. My sister and niece had found the Korean food at The Kitchen to be very good, and we thought we would give it a try. It's a small hole-in-the-wall restaurant on Sasamat Street, just off...busier 10th Avenue in Point Grey outside UBC. Although we were seated immediately, with seating for only about 20, we can see that it could be really busy once the word gets out how good the food is. Service was very quick, and our order of the soft tofu hot pot with beef, medium spicy, for two came quickly. Our attentive and friendly waitress turned on the portable propane stove, and the generous selection of vegetables, mushrooms, gyoza, and thinly sliced beef in broth, was bubbling and boiling in minutes. Our meal came with a huge bowl of rice each, and a selection of four small condiment side dishes (beans, pickled kimchi, potatoes, and noodles). Delicious as everything was, we just couldn't finish the big meal. Prices are very reasonable. We enjoyed our supper so much, that we are already looking forward to our next visit.
