We were looking forward to this small noodle house on Denman. The place is cute with some interesting items. We sat down and ordered two noodle dishes and the cucumber appetizer. The server seemed unsure and had to repeat our order a few times. We...also asked for thick noodles. They have a chart behind the counter that shows the range of think noodles to thin with thick being 1.5 cm wide and thin being 0.1 cm. Our order was a Taiwanese beef noodle soup, sourkraut noodles and smashed cucumbers. The sourkraut noodle has very good flavour with very tender chunks of meat. The sour cabbage pieces were well paired with what I guess is squash leaves. The beef noodle soup however was a bit bland and the beef was tough. Both Noodle dishes came with thin noodles. When asked, we were told that they only have 2 types of noodles, basically really thin at 0.1 and thicker at 0.2 cm. So not sure what the whole thing about ordering bespoke noodle was all about. They also forgot the cucumber appetizer. They did prepare it quickly but we were half way through the noodles. The cucumber dish is very spicy. Be forewarned. I hope they do improve it and figure things out as it would be nice to have a local place in the west end. We will give it some time and try one more time.
