I felt hungry after a recent haircut, so I walked across King Street not far from downtown Hamilton into Rankin’s Bar and Grill which has been in this neighbourhood for decades, in one form or another. A clean interior; conversations and laughter filled the space...inviting me to join the early morning patrons! Rock music played on the sound system but it didn’t harm the ambiance of family atmosphere. Coffee was brought immediately and the breakfast of 3 eggs, 3 strips of meaty bacon, home fries not overly crisp and Texas toast rounded out the meal. Big breakfast it was, but no one is complaining at under $8 (coffee extra). My server did not intrude while I ate and kept my mug filled with hot coffee.
