We had a good experience at Kukum. We had difficulty reaching the restaurant without a car as we hadn’t realized it was so far out from downtown but that’s because we are visitors and not familiar with Toronto. The food is original and well presented. The appetizer that I had (Foraged Mushrooms On Bannock Crostini) was absolutely delicious. The Barley and Squash Risotto was well-prepared but I found it a little bland. My companion was a bit more adventurous, trying the pemmican appetizer and venison stew. The dessert that I tried, a Pine Needle Citrus Sorbet, had a very unique flavour. It was interesting to try and the serving was very generous and garnished with fresh fruit. The server was a really delightful young man and was working very hard. He was doing it all himself (small restaurant) and I think he needed some help, actually, as we had a very long wait for dessert.
