Cool sunny and lively spot for a heavy duty weekend breakfast/brunch. I got a seat by the bar looking outside to the patio (which wasn't open yet since it was a chilly Saturday morning). I ordered the GD poutine (not so sure about that name guys, and I'm not typing it in my post, after I ordered it, I belatedly realized the term is a bit offensive). Really, you should change it, enough said. Now, about the food.... The poutine (replace gravy with Hollandaise and add your eggs and protein) comes in a rather large bowl (you're not going hungry after this), and it's chock full of fries (cooked in duck fat apparently) even though I ordered half fries and half spinach. The sodium content is through the roof, with the pork (they called it roast pork but it has the taste and texture of smoky pork belly and it was delicious but salty), the Hollandaise and the cheese curds. The two poached eggs were nicely poached, with firm whites and warm but runny yolks which tasted great on the fries. I'm glad I got the half spinach as it too worked well in the dish, especially wilted from the warmth of the rest of the bowl's ingredients. Something about the Hollandaise was a bit different -- maybe it was truffle oil, maybe the duck fat, I'm not sure, but it was lighter yet tastier than I'm used to. By the time I was getting to the bottom of the bowl, I had eaten more than enough. I probably left a third of the fries uneaten but I pretty much polished off everything else. Service was great and cappuccino was excellent. $30 incl tax and tip for the bowl and the cappuccino, which is steep for breakfast but I could easily see two people sharing this bowl if you added some toast or fruit/yogurt on the side.
