Passed by this old time Seafood Restaurant and though that I would re-visit and give it a try. Just a bit pass 12:30 mid-day, should be their lunch rush, but already able to find parking on their lot so I would think there should not...be any problem with getting a table, and indeed not busy at all. Items ordered: Soy Sauce Chow Mein $12.98 3 stars Typical dish to go with congee, its a very simple dish, but to do it correctly its not as easy as it looks, here the flavouring is on point, but if the Chef can do a bit more tossing on the Wok on higher heat the caramelization would be even better! Congee with Cilantro & Minced Beef $8.50 4 stars Outstanding! Consistency and texture for the congee is just right, all the ingredients balanced, beef is not over cooked and still has a tender texture. Overall, a great bowl of congee! Marinated Jelly Fish with Beef Shank $8.99 3.5 stars All the flavourings are done well, the only thing to improve is the texture of the Jelly Fish, it may need a bit more poaching under warm water to make it more crunchy, but still good, beef is well seasoned and also very tender. Clams in Black Bean Sauce $8.09 4 stars Clams are on the small side but this item is a special item with 10% off regular price of $8.99. Still very very fresh, the clams are tender and very sweet, the black bean sauce is always a perfect match for any kind of seafood! Steamed Spare Ribs $5.50 4 stars Funny enough this is the only "Dim Sum" item I ordered today, also done very well, the pieces of ribs are just the right size and with the right ratio of meat and bone, sauce is well seasoned. Service is attentive and polite, my observation is that the service level in Chinese Restaurants in Vancouver has improved, of course, today is not crazy busy for them but I do find there is a change in the wind! Hope it will continue to blow in the positive direction! Final Score: 3.7 stars Verdict: Recommend ( do venture out of the regular dim sum menu and try their kitchen dishes )More
