Great evening. Sat at the bar overlooking the kitchen by choice. Very clean very organized kitchen. Relaxed, attentive the plating was perfect detail, detail, detail. My partner had the special a fresh pasta we watched being made then prepared, coming from a restaurant family I...am always watching. Well run quiet firm control. The halibut was perfect, crispy crust, tender moist flakes, the fresh split green peas and greens were delicious and the broth was a perfect pair. My partners fresh pasta made in view and gently tossed in a light sauce with parsnip dissolved in your mouth. French bottled beer just a right match flavor balance. Now the desert! After pondering the list it was decided we would share the hung cheesecake! The cake arrived at the station in front of us in a tightly bound cheese cloth tied bundle. It was opened and plated in a small white dish crushed pecans were placed surrounding the small slightly off white cake. It began its trip from the station to the waiter then to us. At first it looked a little small and plain. I was first to taste. OMG!! WOW! The cheese cake is so light and fluffy the taste WOW! Now I thought to myself I am not going to share this! To late my partner was now savouring the flavor and having the same thought. As we ate we neared the centre. Then the majic. A flavour burst honey, I think raisins, or currents the honey I can't really describe it but I did see it. It comes from fresh cones still in the racks they gently carve the honey out amazing. We savoured every spoonful, I reluctantly gave the last morsel to my partner. WOW! No other words to describe it. Then I asked the chef how big are your snickerdoodles and there were two instantly plated sitting in front of us compliments of the chef.. Again OMG and just as my Americana arrived. The timing couldn't have been better. This evening was an unexpected surprise. I had just had my hair cut at the Barber and Co. attached as we were going to leave there was a cloud burst so we decide to have a drink at the Royal Dinnette. And wait out the storm. It was our best decision as we found this delightful surprise waiting for us. When I asked the chef if this was her place she said yes this is my home. Coming from a restaurant family I know exactly what she meant. You may catch them on a good night maybe an off night. I can assure you it is a hidden gem.
