We do not frequent Original Joe's much, especially in the NE, but found ourselves up there for other reasons and needing lunch. OJ's is familiar having visited the Marda Loop location some time back so headed there....service was slow because of a couple of very...large tables...we ordered the tomato bacon soup along with fish (Mahi Mahi) tacos and salad....took forever for it to arrive. The tomato bacon soup was wonderful - I would go there again for it....but it came with a baquette's worth of sliced crostini topped with melted parmasen cheese....seemed a bit wacky to me. My partner had the fish tacos -- and I shared one of them with him....there was hardly any fish to be found! We mentioned it to the server who mentioned it to the manager who came over and explained that Head Office (CARA - the people who feed you on AC and maybe WS) mandates the amounts - in this case 1.5 oz of fish for an order of fish tacos (2 to an order)....the taco is mostly shredded lettuce with some tomato and a few "kernels" of fish! Not great value to the customer at $16.00....It is very interesting re portion sizes - the manager explained that the burgers come in 3 oz and 5.5 oz sizes - both of which seem quite acceptable. In any event, we were surprised with the lack of protein -- they very kindly took the fish tacos off the bill, which was not our intention when speaking with them, however, it was appreciated just the same.
