I went into the White Spot in Langford for a nice leisurely dinner with my son. I have been many times even through Covid and this is the last time to this restaurant. I was sat in an area that is usually a meeting room...and it wasn't even that that has upset me. I believe there were 6 tables but was told 5 by Vern the "owner." After we were seated (our waitress was lovely) she took our drink order and brought that to our table. We then ordered our food. About 5 minutes after that there was a couple with two children sat at the table right beside ours..actually just down a bit. They allowed their children to be out of their seats and close to our table. I wasn't comfortable with this so we finished up quickly and left. I came home into Victoria and immediately called to talk to the manager. His name was Vern and he also told me he was the owner. He didn't think there was anything the matter with the people sat close to us. He also said in the conversation that it had been slow today so I said to him it made more sense that they would have sat the people at the other end of the little room we were in and he argued that they could have 20 people in that little room and that they have. This makes no sense to me. small area closed in with one little door in and out. All I was wanting was acknowledgement that it would have made more sense to seat the people further away than they were seated(especially with small children) because it was a slow period (as he said in our conversation earlier) but all he wanted to prove was that he was right! I didn't care if he was right. It just makes more sense in a small room that people are as far apart as possible. The food was questionable.....my halibut was overcooked. Dry and tough on the edges even under the batter. Never again will I darken his doors. Good Luck Vern! I sure hope you know how to stay safe!More
