A friend and I go to the Wallflower about six times a year for brunch. Last couple of times have been a disappointment. On one occasion I decided to try the vegan bacon. Never again. (As a former omnivore I definitely know what bacon is...supposed to taste like.) When I found fault with it the waiter got kinda snippy with me. Not a good look, dude. Most recent time ordered avocado toast and got served avocado on raw bread. Inquired about this. Sorry, said the server, manager won't buy a new toaster so we make do. [Insert favourite expression of disbelief.] Demanded that avocado toast should actually be on toasted bread. Dish taken away and after 10 minutes got bread toasted to near-carbonized status in some spots. Felt kinda passive aggressive, frankly. The bill was adjusted and more apology made, including report to manager (who never came near us). I'm checking out other brunch locales for our next. Secondarily, the wait staff used to be very good cheer, efficient and on top of things but there is a weird feeling of apathy and disorganization now, along with newbies that are just learning the pitch. Is new management is more concerned with the coin than the people?More
