Easily the biggest food trend hitting Montreal in the last 2 years, Poke restaurants vary a lot in price & quality, I have tried quite a few. This place just opened in October 2018 and could become of the city’s best if they keep delivering...this top-notch quality at that price. At $15.95, the Poke Deluxe combines sashimi grade tuna, salmon, red snapper, tempura shrimp, fish caviar, rice, salad, soya beans, avocado, cucumber, carrot, radish & special sauce. Notice the tempura shrimps: most restaurants prepare well in advance so it becomes soggy. Here, the batter remains crispy because they do it fresh. Small details, huge difference. Same for the rice : most restaurants lazily serve white rice. Not these guys, they season it and these small details matter on taste. For my second visit (see picture), I tried le poke crabe des neiges and wow, what a flavourful combination ! But mostly, what a unique combination, very few restaurants will even offer crab on their menu and I found the flavourful combo well-above average and at $13.95? I challenge you to find this quality at this price in this city. They are already picking up trafic through word-of-mouth (but still a local secret), try it out before the lineups become too long because this one is a winner - highly recommended.
