I ordered online for delivery as well as ordering a cake for pick up. Considerations: There are currently very few bakeries that do both gluten and dairy allergies so comparisons are hard. All ingredients are listed on site which is also helpful for other allergies....It boiled down to would I get this item again. Items delivered on Thursday were consumed at times on the weekend. I felt it important to note since they may be better at the bakery freshly made. Wheat and dairy items consumed 5 days after baking would not necessarily fare well either. CAKE: the chocolate one ( gâteau au chocolat) was BEAUTIFUL! The cake was slightly dry but the icing was quite rich so it balanced out very well. My group would order it again! I usually don’t serve gluten free/ dairy free desserts to people who eat gluten and dairy but this cake can fool some but won’t fool ALL. Here is the feedback i got from my gluten eaters:”It would be a good normal (not gluten/dairy free) cake. Not a wow cake, but a good cake.” I called in the cake order and called again the day before to confirm (after reading the reviews) I had asked to put a birthday message on the cake but they were not able to deliver on that promise due to a shortage of something or other. They apologized and tried to make it work. DELIVERY : in good humour my gluten free items arrived in a pasta box! I am all up for “Re-use” but some serious celiacs may not find that as funny. BAGUETTE: My baguette was folded in half. It would have been good to know they were going to be doing that. I totally get why they ship it like that but this could be an issue for some. The baguette was dense and toasted very well but not great for eating fresh. I would try it heated. In summary: baguette 2 stars CHOCOLATINES: ok. A little low on the chocolate factor. A good candidate for heating. Reminded me of the individually wrapped ones you get at airports and grocery stores. In summary: chocolatine 3 stars. ABRICOTINES: yay! Great balance of abricots to crust to custard. Perfect with a coffee as there was some dryness to the crust. In summary : abricotines 4 stars & My recommendation for walk in CROISSANTS: heat @ 250 for 20 mins and they were flaky and crispy and delicious! Only a hint of heaviness in the middle. In summary: 5 stars & My recommendation for what to bring to brunch (heated). I look forward to trying their other products and hope to visit in person to confirm if fresher is better for some of the items that weren’t high scoring. Until then I would reorder croissants, abricotines and chocolatines.
