I work in the area and have eaten here for lunch and supper probably about 7 times over the past 2 years. Pre Covid the food was very good. It was nicely presented, fresh and service was good and fast. The restaurant is charming and...reminiscent of the restaurants we visited in Greece. That being said, the last 3 times we ate here for supper we were very disappointed. We ordered the mini souvlaki's that are advertised on specials every Tuesday. We were told by the inappropriately dressed server (half naked) that they were not available as they ran out of the mini pitas and were expecting them sometime during the week. Fine. She recommended the "Meat Shovel" that contained chicken and pork shavings with loukaniko (sausage) and bifteki (burgers) for 2 with Greek potatoes, fries pita and tzatziki. The meal arrived in 5 minutes. ...not a good sign. The shovel was packed with dried, shriveled shavings of meat that probably had been sitting in fat since lunch hour. Their Greek potatoes are drenched in oil. Yes...Mediterranean food is often served with lots of olive oil as with many middle Eastern meals. I can handle that but these were just oily gross mess...and they taste funny...like they absorb the metallic flavor of the pan they cook them in. They always sort of tasted like that. I will eat potatoes in any shape and form and for me, not to eat them, something is wrong. The fries were good at least and so was the burger. We ate that meal because we were hungry...I didn't finish my portion and packed it to take home. When I got home, I looked at it and threw it out. My husband and I eat out once or twice a week for a treat. I am employed and my husband runs his own small business. We work very, very hard for our money and regret spending it at that restaurant. The restaurants used to be really cute...now its very tired looking. The women's bathroom is disguising! It never looks clean. Ever! They cheap out on the soap. its liquid that doesn't lather. I suspect its to cut back on the soap budget as constant hand washing costs them money. But there are cheap soaps available . My hands didn't feel clean after washing. They do have hand sanitizing dispensers available everywhere. I'll give them that. As mentioned, the server was dressed in some kind of crop top that expose her middle area with a skirt. My husband found that offensive. Not all men are drooling pigs that want to see skin when they're eating their supper. If we wanted that we'd go to a strip joint where that's appropriate for a kinky night out, not a Greek restaurant. Our food was served in a shovel like the menu says. We found that gross. We get it that every eating establishment wants to be original, but food in a shovel made us feel like barnyard animals. It was a grey, heaping greasy pile of unpleasantness. The "out of mini pita's" was an excuse not to sell them because they are 2.50 each on Tuesdays. Go to the grocery store and buy some mini pita bread, then!!! I come from a family of restaurant owners and they did what it took to make sure they always had stock of everything even if they had to go retail. Like all restaurants these days, they need to sell more expensive meals. We get it....but, they shot themselves in the foot because we always order a bunch of sides that exceeded the cost of the meal they recommended. That was sneaky. Times are tough now and restaurants have taken a big hit during Covid, but that's even more of a reason to ensure your service, quality of food and cleanliness of the restaurant is always at its best. Many restaurants have made serious cut backs on quality lately and that's going to kill their business even further because people aren't going back. I don't invite people into my home for supper if my bathroom isn't clean and I certainly would not serve them old dried meat for free...so why would a restaurant expect us to spend good money at at their establishment to eat bad food? C'mon guy! Its not haute cuisine you're serving.,,.,its broiled meats, potatoes, bread and yogurt sauce like every other souvlaki joint in this town. You're making a huge profit! I really don't like to give bad reviews, especially now because times are so hard, but there is no passion for their business at all. its just a place for them to make money.
