The Local in Vancouver’s Kitsilano Neighborhood, has a good selection of patio seating available for those seeking places to eat and be served in this patio- only dining phase in B.C. It has a covered patio area outside in what used to be its parking...area, as well as in its patio areas, long incorporated in its restaurant design, as well as a few seats in its ocean-side patio bar area. Plexiglas separates customers from bar staff and there is a well-defined social distance space between those at the bar. It took a bit of time to get a seat but not too long and I was happily looked after by its wonderful host, Cat, who came to give me updates on how things were moving along. She is terrific, Staff under GM Steve and his assistant managers, like Derek, are welcoming and attentive, as is the kitchen staff under chef, Kevin. I had a ahi tuna poke bowl, which was tasty and had many healthy elements. I had hoped for some soy sauce to give it that extra touch but the Local does not stock any. Given, the increasing consumption of Asian fusion dishes it may be a good addition. The poke bowl is 20:50$ and comes with an interesting hotish sauce. The bar serves a range of drafts and I decide on a pale ale pint. Then a second. It is a good spot to pop in at in these times of patio only dinning. It also does a brisk trade in takeouts. As the weather warms, it will become an increasingly attractive patio area to catch a beverage, food and some rays of sun. Posted by S FullerMore
