My husband and I found this comfortable bar and grill quite by accident when on our way to a neighboring restaurant that we had identified on Trip Advisor, but which we could not seem to find. No harm done, however, because The New Oxford not...only met our needs, but exceeded our expectations! We had arrived at our B&B in the neighborhood after a long travel day that included missing our noon flight from L.A. due to late arriving connections. We finally landed in Vancouver about 9:00 PM and got to our B&B shortly before 11:00 PM hungry, wet, tired and irritable. We used Trip Advisor to look for a little local place where we could find a late night supper. Although the place Trip Advisor suggested seemed to be non-existant, we found The New Oxford next door to the address we were looking for. The place seemed in need of a facelift, but the bartender made us feel welcome and the food and drink hit the spot. My husband had the fish and chips and he said the fish was fresh and delicious – just as good as the best he had enjoyed in Maine where we had lived for 30 years. My burger was also very good. In short, The New Oxford was an oasis from the rain after a long difficult travel day with excellent high-quality food and service as well as exotic cocktails. We definitely recommend The New Oxford to tired travelers needing a warm, dry, friendly place with high quality food open late.
