My cousin was over visiting last week. She was only stopping for one night in Vancouver so we went out for a couple of drinks at this bar. There was a group of 6 of us. We all had ID except for my cousin who...didnt bring her passport because she was afraid of losing it. She is 32 years of age so she definitely looks over the drinking age. Anyway, the server took all our orders and asked my cousin for her order last. She then asked everyone for ID, and explained to my cousin she couldnt be served because of the strict laws in place. The server left and I was a little disappointed she wasnt going to be served so I decided I wouldnt drink if they wouldnt serve my cousin. I had a large order, 2 Coronas and 4 vodkas and red bull (it was for me and 1 other friend). I approached our server and pleaded with her to let my cousin have one drink and we would move along and she said she could lose her job etc etc. So I said that's no problem, you can cancel my order, I wont drink if my cousin cant drink, that's the reason I was even there in the first place. The server said "the drinks are already poured, I'm not canceling your order". I looked over her shoulder to the bar and my drinks were clearly not poured out. So I said "no they're not, I can see the bar". The server flipped and started calling me aggressive and ignorant. She stormed off and got the manager (he looked more like a bouncer, he was a big enough guy). To prove I wasnt being aggressive the first thing I said was "hello sir, this women wont cancel my order". I told him the same thing I told her, I'm not drinking if they don't serve my cousin and he again said the fines were huge etc. So I said that's no problem, please cancel my drinks and i turned around and went back to my table. 5 minutes later the drinks arrived for the whole table (obviously they weren't poured before). They had the cheek to pour my drinks that I clearly canceled and the waitress said "they were poured, you'll have to pay for them". I said I'm not drinking anything on that tray and she said "oh I'll just have to give them away". I stood up without saying one more word to her and approached the manager and said "I thought I made myself clear that I didnt want these drinks". He apologized and said I wont be charged for them, I said that's no problem at all, thank you very much and I took my seat. I waited for my friends to finish their drinks and I never received any sort of an apology from the server, she didnt even look at me when she collected the empty glasses. Needless to say, we left after one drink, and I wont be returning there anytime soon.
