Today, my neighbour convinced me of having lunch at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 638 in Kanata. The Legion Hall's is nothing fancy; but their home-made beer batter Fish & Chips is "Out of this World", he claims! I figure that I would give it...a try! The deep fried haddock turned out to be a wonderful and tasty experience! I enjoy the light batter, where you could actually see the perfectly cooked fish instead of thick flour battered where you could barely make-out any fish. The friendly folks dining there consist of seniors, retired local veterans & their family and high tech employees mainly from nearby Silicon Valley North which North Kanata is sometimes called. Fish & Chips is only served regularly on Fridays between 11:30 - 1:00 PM. There is an open bar where you could buy your refreshments along with your meal. Since the Legion is an non-profit organization this one of their many fundraisers! My neighbour says that I was fortunate today; having Sue in the kitchen frying up the fish! She is one of their finest cooks! Plenty of parking and friendly faces to greet you when you walk in the door!More
