Although the service is quick and friendly at this little restaurant in Quadra Village, the food offerings sometimes disappoint. The first time I visited I ordered a stew with meat, beans, and greens. This proved to be quite nice and very interestingly spiced, but there...was very little meat in the stew and it was served with an excessively large portion of rice. On a second visit, I ordered a lamb shank with seasoned rice while my dining companion ordered one of the kebab dishes. This meal proved more disappointing. On the plus side: the lamb was tender and delicious, the dill-and-broad-bean rice very interesting (although a little short of broad beans), the kebabs large and well seasoned, and nothing was overwhelmingly salty (as restaurant food too often is). On the minus side: each meal included enough rice for three people, there were no vegetables to speak of, and we were not served (or even offered) any water. The overload of rice was particularly disheartening; in order to avoid wasting food, the customer must either over-eat or ask for the leftovers to be packed to go (not always feasible depending on one's schedule, and not always something people are comfortable doing). If we hadn't had such large plates of rice to eat, we might have ordered a side dish or two. [In hindsight, a better way for two people to dine here might be to order one meal that includes rice, plus an extra kebab and/or side dish, and share the rice.] I have enjoyed Persian food in the past and this place seems to have good potential, but unfortunately I don't feel I can give it a higher rating based on my experiences.
