"+.5 for service This place is excellent, although not 5-star excellent. I think a 4.5 rating more than justifies the quality of this place. First of all, the directions to find this restaurant...if you're coming from Osborne Street, walk on the alleyway between the 222 Osborne complex (Osborne Junction) and The Village Pet. You'll see a set of doors to your right. Look for the door that leads downstairs that says ""Vandalay Industries"". When I was there the door was already open, but I'm not sure if that's always the case. Once you're downstairs you'll see a black door. Open the black door, and you're in the restaurant. I made reservations for 5 for this restaurant, since I know it often gets busy at night. However, it didn't get truly busy until around 8pm on a Saturday, which was around the time when we left the restaurant. The menu changes every week, although the restaurant is currently doing a summer prix fixe special for $34, which I find it to be a very affordable deal. I had the beef tartare, crème fraiche fried chicken, and a chocolate paté. I also added a half dozen of village bay oysters. You can tell that every single dish was carefully thought and made with the freshest ingredients. Almost all dishes were great in completely different ways, whether it's by taste, presentation, or innovation. The village bay oysters I probably could do without next time
