dined at Sidecar during dine-out vancouver. The food was not bad, however the service was no great shakes. They had a set menu for the dine-out people, had some good choices. I started with the baked brie, came with only 3 small slices of toasted...french bread, not enough for the amount of cheese and the roasted garlic was overcooked and really messy to get at. As a main I had the chicken confit, this was very good, chicken fell off bone, scalloped potatoes were done with a lovely crust and the braised greens were fantastic - that was the best part - should have been more of that. The dessert they served was way too sweet, it was beignets and I guess there was supposed to be a filling, but I couldn't find it. The biggest problem was the service, one of the ladies who was with us has a real problem with gluten and they had no options for that at all. She ended up with a steak, which she said was very tasty and was served with fries. However the waiter decided that we should all have our food at the same time so she got her dinner at the same time as our appetizers, he did apologize but that was kind of weird. Then when I got my bill I saw that my wine was $22/glass (it was good but not that good) and when I questioned the waiter he said that he had given me the 9oz glass instead of the 5oz glass which was $15/glass. I did not see that option on the menu and it's really hard to see as everything is in really tiny print and it's quite dark. I will give it another try just to make sure but I'll be more careful next time.
