I've driven past this eatery at Victoria and 41st tons of times, hardly noticing it except, occasionally, to think - hmmm, a restaurant for people who don't know how to boil water for themselves. But this time, my son dragged me in to have lunch...and boy, this ain't CupNoodle! First impression, the decor is wonderful but not pretentious - a variety of varnished light wood, light and airy. The service is fast, helpful, cheerful. I ordered the normal ramen with pork, plus a side salad with sashimi. This humble helping of fuel turned out to be close to perfection! The broth was very rich and satisfying, the meat tender and fresh, reminding me how good plain cooking can be if done just right. I tried the karage, and it's right up with the best: crisp outside, tender inside, the meat once again perfectly cooked and fresh. The price was a bit more than I expected for a modest afternoon snack, but absolutely worth it.
