If you want to experience a real beef tartare you have to go to Quebec City. Every restaurant seems to offer a version of beef tartare, but if you want an excellent example try the one at La Bête! I had the entrees size and...it was just right. The server offered a choice of spiciness, which is not always the case, so a nice surprise. This was one of the best Tartarus I have ever had. And La Bête is a steak house so of course I had the 9oz top sirloin, with peppercorn sauce and garlic mashed potatoes. Asked for medium rare and got a true medium rare. Everything was great!! The accompanying vegetables did not overpower the plate, and were just right for the meal, And who could turn down a crème brûlée with blueberries and Baileys. The balance was perfect, enough to taste the Baileys but not enough to overpower it. And the blueberries were the small indigo variety with a nice sweet punch. The servers were engaged, helpful and professional. The wine paring recommendation was spot on. I will be back!More
