Having reserved a table for four way in advance (7+ days ) I was appalled to be led through the restaurant, passing empty tables to be seated in a rain soaked patio area. I had booked for myself, husband and two friends who we had...not seen for a long time and we were very much looking forward to a nice relaxed and enjoyable evening. Instead, we couldn't wait for the whole experience to be over! When I complained to the waitress and asked her if she had any tables inside, she just replied by saying she didn't deal with seating! No apologies, or I'll see what we can do, nothing! Not a great start to what we hoped would be a pleasurable evening. With the rain coming down so hard my husband was getting wet so he decided to speak to the manager, asking why we couldn't have one of the empty tables. He was told they were reserved and when he said well we've reserved, the manager basically said if we didn't like it we could walk out. Trying to get another reservation on a Saturday night in downtown Victoria is not easy so we decided to stick it out! Having ordered selection of dishes, my husband and I were served our potato dish and my friends were served their vegetable dish but no entrees. We were then asked if we would like to move to the bar to eat. We were told that we could sit at the corner of the bar, which we decided to do, due to the rain and the cold. We still only had one dish each and had to wait far too long for the chicken and ling cod to be served. By which time the vegetable dish was cold. The atmosphere was noisy and the way we were seated was not conducive to being able to talk easily to our friends. My husband ordered a glass of wine which was $25. He said it was the cheapest one on the menu! We could not wait to leave the restaurant and would not recommend this restaurant. The manager did come up to speak to my husband to apologise and we realised when we got home that he had discounted the bill. However, it was too little, too late. He did not apologise to my friends or to myself and does not deserve to be patronised. Victoria is full of excellent restaurants with pleasant staff and good food that is priced accordingly. This is not one of them! Over priced, mediocre food... not for the discerning customer! Very very disappointing and upsetting!More
