My husband and I decided to try Lombardo’s restaurant, as we had been there many years ago and there was no lineup to get a table, so we gave it a try after reading the menu. The service was okay and I know that currently...hiring and maintaining experienced wait staff is extremely difficult and we are not difficult customers. The menu described fantastic food - “Hand tossed pizza dough, topped with mozzarella cheese and vine ripened tomatoes, sourced annually from Italy” as well as “house made Cesar dressing” and “fresh pasta made in-house” with the description of the lasagna I ordered as “Layers of spinach noodles, ragu topped with bechamel” - NONE of these descriptions were accurate! The romaine from the Cesar salad was the only fresh substance I ate, however it was cut into small pieces with a lot of ends to pick through. It was quite similar to a bagged salad from the supermarket, but those actually are better ?♀️? The “croutons” were flavourless, oddly chewy and difficult to eat baked pizza dough pieces with an extra very unappetizing piece of cooked pizza dough as a “garnish”. The dressing did not taste “house made” and was comparable to a cheap fast food salad dressing, overly sweet, highly processed, lacking flavour. The half portion was $10 and this subpar “fast food” like salad was a very small portion. The pizza my husband ordered was very soggy and the ingredients were of very low quality! The tomatoes and cheese most definitely were not as described on the menu. Lastly and the worst item was the lasagna - a $20 small square-like substance was put in front of me, with another flavourless piece of cooked pizza dough as a garnish! The top was burnt, but that’s not the worst parts - there was a HUGE layer of what I would describe as processed powdered “Parmesan” cheese like substance piled on top. The lasagna was swimming in a pinkish, overly sweet, highly processed tasting, very watery substance that I assume is what they are calling “béchamel”? I ate the salad as it was the safest option, had a few bites of the lasagna and my husband somewhat tolerated his pizza having to eat it with a knife and fork due to how soggy it was! We are not the type of people to be rude to servers, but we were honest yet kind to our server and I will follow up with the owner to communicate my disappointment with the entire meal - 2 beers, medium pizza and lasagna = $75 including a tip, as it’s not the server’s fault the food is horrible. I strongly recommend NOT going to this restaurant!More
