I've been to the Merchant Kitchen once before a few years ago and I have been wanting to go back ever since because that first experience was SO good. My recent experience, however, was poor. The noise level was so loud due to music and other diners that our table could barely communicate with each other, and we certainly could not hear our waitress through her mask. A beer was spilled on our table and no one would come clean it. We had to ask three times for help and each time we were just given a few napkins, not nearly enough to soak up a full beer. We eventually had to ask for a cloth so we could clean it up ourselves, which in my experience is someone else's job when eating at a restaurant. The food was good but in my opinion very overpriced for the serving sizes. The service was just so-so. The most attention our table was paid was after dinner was done and the waitress wanted to get us out. I think that the change in experience might have been due to new hires still getting a feel for working in a restaurant. That's what it felt like at least. I'll likely go back but I would not bring a large group again, and I won't be raving about it like I used to.
