We moved to the province of Rieti in central Italy from Vancouver about six years ago… Yes, I know, we are spoiled for good food… let’s make that GREAT food… we are talking about living in Lazio here. Every time I come back to Vancouver...I have a huge hankering for Asian food which we cannot get in our region and I rarely eat Italian when I am here because of the cost and the fact that I am usually disappointed because I can always make it better myself… over there at least. But the other day a friend of mine and I were looking for a place for lunch and I was curious to try Mordimi as I heard the chef Luca was from Rieti. Boy am I glad we did! What a great little discovery. The place is small but cozy. The menu had some great pizza and pasta choices and the desserts in the display case looked very tempting. We opted for the $45 lunch special for two which included a lovely fresh Caesar Salad, a pasta, in this case spaghetti with a zesty ‘Nduja sauce, and a pizza—we chose the simple Margherita—sooo tasty!—plus two desserts. We chose a lemon tart and a mini cheesecake covered with fresh raspberries. Everything was outstanding. I felt like I was back home in Italy. It was pure joy. I can’t wait to go back the next time I am back in Vancouver. They are not licensed for liquor but the food was so good it didn’t matter. Try these guys out. You will not be sorry.
