I booked a reservation at the Revel Room so we could take in some live music (jazz) while in Vancouver. And it was only a few blocks from where we were staying. The ambiance is very fun, old black and white movies playing on the...wall, funky decor. Great cocktail list (I loved the Sunny Side of the Street!). I requested a room upstairs and am glad I did. The trio of musicians there that night played traditional New Orleans style jazz and with a trumpet and a sax, it was plenty loud from the second floor where we still had an excellent view. Our server, Joe, was very pleasant, friendly, and attentive. We liked both our meals — the steak frites and the fried chicken, the latter was a bit better, but the steak was well seasoned. Only a couple of hiccups, I had ordered a salad as a starter, but it was delivered at the same time as my husband’s fried chicken, by another server. I asked if my steak was ready, because in that case I wouldn’t want the salad (the steak frites would get cold while I was eating the salad, or I would have to finish the salad, which is not a great ending to a meal). He said it was and took the salad away. But then he came back right away and said that my steak actually isn’t quite ready, the salad would be on the house, and did I still want it? Though I appreciated them comping the salad, I did find it strange that both entrees weren’t ready at the same time. Once I did get my steak frites, our server apologized for the mix up. Of course, these things happen and the customer service in how you address the issue is where you shine, and Revel Room did.
