Some friends were raving about this place and invited us to come with them---and we weren't disappointed. Its a family operation preparing food from Ethiopia which is served as a buffet (with 11 different dishes plus a salad) for about $20 per person for dinner....The meal started off well with our fresh lychee drink---and another one of our party enjoyed his mango drink. My favourite dishes in the buffet were the Kilwa---which is a very tender steak marinaded in tej (a mead or honey wine) with cooked peppers. Not spicy hot at all, but so flavourful. Also enjoyed the vegetarian Bursen tumtumo---which is lentils in berbere sauce which is described (in wikipedia) as "spice mixture whose constituent elements usually include chili peppers, garlic, ginger, basil, korarima, rue, ajwain or radhuni, nigella, and fenugreek". Quite spicy hot, but surprisingly my partner, who has a low tolerance for hot foods, really liked it (although she had to eat it in small doses). Has a faint resemblance to a high quality chili powder. The yellow chickpeas and the sauce they were in was also really nice----lots of subtle flavours. I know nothing of Ethiopian cuisine----this was my first experience---so I can't assess that quality of these dishes compared to other Ethiopian restaurants. But all 6 of us really enjoyed it! Really nice ambience too, with interesting African Art, colourful walls, and what I assume was Ethiopian music----which mostly had a great beat and lovely energy.
