My GF and I added Bar Sazerac to our date night itinerary last night. We were so excited to try it and have been intending to go for quite some time. We were laughing the whole time. Not only because we were having a blast...(not courtesy of bar sazerac), but how pretentious and unwelcoming the staff and experience was. Maybe it was an off night? I keep hearing about “Kyle”, I’m guessing he wasn’t there. For starters, we had the one gentleman drying and slamming glasses on our face while waiting to order. When he finally decided that he was ready to take our order (there were a four other people on the bar). He was full of tude and couldn’t even make eye contact while we ordered. After getting our tiny (and terrible) drinks, we made our way to the back room. Trust me, I understand the concept of a great cocktail, but for what you get it’s super overpriced. Our final straw was the obscure list of rules, welcome letter or etiquette - (we do not know what it was) listed at the front of the menu. After dying at the term facsimile, we had enough. As I’m writing this my girlfriend is literally in the fetal position from whatever the bartender substituted in her drink. The only time the staff seemed interested was when it was tip time. I was hesitant to give one, but it was so awkward with them peering over at me in anticipation. I reluctantly tossed them a toonie lol. So disappointing. Honestly, if I wanted that type of service, I would have gone to Yorkville in Toronto. What a let down because it has the potential to be a really cool spot if they lost the attitude and didn’t take themselves so seriously. Be cool Bar Sazarec, but not too cool for school! BlahMore
