It was my last meal in Vancouver prior to catching a 1.30 am flight at the conclusion of my holiday, and I was looking to use up what was left of my Canadian cash. As I approached my table, I noticed a sign on the...counter saying "Cash and Debit Cards Only". Oh well, there's no safety of credit card in case I incur a bill that exceeds my cash holding! The atmosphere and setting is somewhat upmarket for a Vietnamese eatery, but as with all of them, the food is the main draw. This was my first (and only) time at Pho Thai Hoa, and I was more than satisfied. It was around 8 pm on a Thursday night, and the place was not crowded. I found the hu tieu bo kho (beef stew with pho noodles - they use pho despite saying hu tieu in the menu, which was even better for me!) tasty, although the meat had a bit of tendons. My daughter's grilled chicken chop with rice and egg came with a complimentary bowl of broth, and for all of us, complimentary tea was served.
