Went down to Max's for lunch today and ordered garlic fried rice (tasty), Shanghai lumpia (spring rolls were fresh, juicy and crispy- delish), palabok (rice noodles- just ok, had better ones elsewhere. A bit bland for my taste), kare-kare (ox tail in red sauce and...peanut butter - beef very tender. Dish comes with shrimp paste to add the saltiness otherwise the dish is tasteless), sisig (chopped up pork of some kind served on sizzling plate- tastes good in the beginning but it turned dry towards the end and the meat a bit hard),adobo( stewed chicken in soy sauce- ckn dry and the gravy tastes sweet. I prefer garlic sauce version), halo-halo (shaved iced, milk, different beans and jello plus custard and icecream as toppings- yummy!!!). For me the winners are the lumpia, kare-kare and halo-halo. There were 6 ppl and the bill came to under $120 includes tips n taxes.
