We stayed near the location of Falafel Yoni. The restaurant is located a short walk off the main rue St. Laurent and is decorated refreshingly in plywood, concrete and ultra modern simplicity and starkness. The food is ordered at the counter and must be picked...up. Laid out fast food style in terms of seating, the food is anything but! We ordered the Hummus Plate, and two Sabiches. The hummus was some of the creamiest I have had made from scratch and so different from the ones I buy at Costco. The pita bread was warm and baked just so and the falafel was very crisp and fresh and not oily at all. The shredded red cabbage was an excellent complement. All in all some of the best Middle Eastern vegetarian food I have had in a while. Our party of three went with their palates ringing and their stomachs full. We walked to the restaurant from our digs and did not have to deal with the parking situation. The restaurant is located amidst a crowd of other restaurants and bars in this area of Mile's End in Montreal.
