The Local in Kits, part of the Joey Group, and nicely located on the corner of Cornwall & Yew, has a good selection of dishes and good hours. It is usually good service and the food is likewise, but sometimes the service at the bar...can be a little lackluster. Its reviews here illustrate a range of service experience. This past Saturday my experience with a client, who was taking me for a nibble and drinks before departing for the U.S. was a little wanting. I have reviewed The Local around five times since Covid struck, mostly with praise for the staff and management. The dishes we ordered, nachos, ginger dumplings and the potato appetizer were good but the attention from the bartender/ server was a little off radar. Maybe it is early December with its early chills that account for it but I hope it becomes more jolly as we edge deeper into the festive season. The Local is certainly a good spot for many reasons but it could reach higher sometimes with some of its servers. Posted by S Fuller.
