Disappointing this last time. Have been there several times with my family and it has been good but the last time left a bad taste and we won’t going back given the poor response the staff gave for their miscommunication. So my message for customers...is to be VERY careful if you reserve ahead! There is a minimum $25 plus gratuity per person to reserve a table (Open Table or Phone) which is non refundable but do they fail to explain clearly over the phone, that the amount is also MINIMUM consumption. To be more precise, my deposit was $225 and final bill with gratuity was below that given we had kids in our party. My issue is not the money difference but the principle of using a deposit as a minimum consumption limit without being transparent about it and the poor response. I was about to pay the bill I asked the server if the reservation charge was reversed or was a credit (if not I would had paid $405. Nice guy but he had no clue about it and he comes back saying that we need to consume more to get to the $225… I asked to speak with manager to understand why. A person shows, just repeating the deposit is non refundable and have no answer to the question of why does a booking deposit, even if said non-refundable, that is aimed to protect the restaurant for no-shows, can translate to a minimum consumption limit that was never explained as such. Say if I walk in with my family, I don’t see any signs that force me to buy $25 per person. I have seen booking feed elsewhere but the fee is canceled and the actual bill charged. After a conversation about their poor disclosure, lack of transparency and lack of proper staff training (I almost got charged $405 for a $180 meal) the person wasn’t able to resolve the issue as she said the booking process is outsourced. Finally she said she would try to speak with the person that took the reservation and see if they could refund the difference in case wasn’t clear enough… We enjoyed this place and recommended it to many friends over the years. I won’t be going back. Consumer be warned about the lack of transparency if you make a reservation, especially if you have kids in your party that may not consume the minimum rate this place sneaks in when you reserve.
