Eataly Toronto was a much anticipated restaurant and shopping experience in the downtown core. There were two hour lineups outside in the cold on the opening day, Nov 13, 2019. Opening night was exciting, full of ‘ Italian spirit.’ Spritz’s were 20$ but it was...fun to walk around and shop for Italian good, drink in hand. Three months later, the ‘thrill is gone.’ On a Thursday at 5 pm they stopped making the popular pizza Cacio e Pepe and Rossa for the evening. The pizza slices were smaller, yet were pricey. The once bustling bar area was not inviting because of the place settings suggesting that one must order food in addition to a beverage. Eataly has lost its lustre. I enjoyed feeling a taste of Italy when it first opened, but sadly for me it’s another, of many, grocery stores.
