Splendido's tasting menu was varied and interesting, and the beverage pairings, for the most part, were excellent matches to the food. Generally, the food was also delicious. The service was fairly prompt and attentive, but not to the level I would expect from a restaurant that wishes to compete in the premium fine-dining category. Mistakes on the wine list were also somewhat embarrassing for a restaurant of this caliber. The biggest problem with Splendido is value. My partner and I have tried tasting menus at many of Toronto's best restaurants, and on several occasions, the food and service were better. On all occasions, the cost of the meal and beverage pairings were lower. Did I enjoy Splendido? Yes. Did I enjoy it as much as other Toronto tasting menu restaurants? No. There are better tasting menus available in Toronto for 50% of the price of eating at Splendido.
