In these times of uncertainly & anxiety, it is reassuring for Jolly’s Indian Bistro customers & those wanting the comfort of a good curry, to know they are able to order dinner all 7 days of the week, either for pick up or delivery from...5 p,m. to 9 p.m.. Reminiscing about the good food I had had over the 16 years since Jolly opened the original Jolly’s Indian Bistro, just East of Macdonald on 4th in 2004, now at its location one block west on 4th at Bayswater since 2009, I called to find out the details of how one could procure its delicious curries in these times. Most especially its butter chicken. The butter chicken JIB serves is a hot favorite, & I am referring here to its popularity, not its level of spice. Butter chicken is generally a favorite Indian dish in North America, perhaps because it is not one of the hotter Indian dishes. Jolly, calling this dish Jolly’s Butter Chicken, does this dish in the style one would expect with boneless chicken with yogurt & tandoori masala, roasted & also combined with a light cream cardamom sauce, served with turmeric rice, naan, & a spinach salad, at the very reasonable price of 18$. Yum. The menu is extensive & includes many vegetarian options & great dessert choices. All the dishes I have had in 16 years have hit the spot. Indian-born, Jolly also did his chef training in Austria, as did Vikram Vij of Vij’s, then immigrating here in 2000. No in-restaurant dinning because of the new restrictions but still the great food & impeccable service. Posted by S FullerMore
