Based on the one-and-only review of this place on Trip Advisor, I decided to have breakfast here this morning. And just like the review said, it was an amazing breakfast for under $5. There was so much food I couldn't finish it. It was a...standard sausage (bacon or ham were available too), eggs, hasbrowns, toast and coffee breakfast. but it was done really well. The sausage was split when it was fried so it was crispier but less greasy. The hashbrowns were definitely homemade diced potatoes that were perfectly crispy. The coffee was so-so, but I'm really picky (read: snobby) about my coffee, and to me it tasted like standard diner coffee. Oh well, that was the only downside. It was a really friendly place, which more than made up for it being run down. In fact, maybe the rundownness is part of the charm. The staff were great, and the other patrons were a mix of colourful locals, construction workers (who must have had a really early start because they were taking a breakfast break at 9 am) and a few business people. Best part of the exeprience was an old guy who walked in dressed in a big black cowboy hat, cowboy boots and a tassled jacket. He was really quiet, but everyone knew who he was. The funny thing is, they all just called him Cowboy. As in... Morning Cowboy, how are you? Hey Cowboy. The usual breakfast? Good to see you Cowboy. He never said anything; just nodded. After having breakfast in the restaurant, I popped my head into the bar. It's basically elements of a sports bar (including VLTs) dropped into an untouched bar from the late 1800s. I believe I have found an excellent gem in Winnipeg.
