Have eaten at Hermanos downtown and enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. South Osborne however is a different matter. Met a friend for lunch - I arrived early and it took a while to be greeted. The restaurant was virtually empty so was offered to...pick where I wanted to sit. The glassware on the table was very dirty. Had been washed but dried rather than washed and left to dry so streaky and unclean looking. My coffee was served with spills all over the plate and down the cup - cold and too strong though I was told it was a fresh pot. The entire place smelled of stale grease. The waitress wore a jacket that was very dirty and a skirt that was questionably short. She matched the atmosphere. The steak sandwich we ordered was good enough and served fairly promptly. No one asked us how it was though. My friend’s side plate had not been cleaned at all and when she ordered tea, the cup was really dirty. I asked the cook for a clean cup as he was closest to us. He brought a coffee cup and remarked how a coffee cup would work as well as a tea cup. Tables had not been cleared from other guests who had eaten and left. Not that the waitress was too busy to do this.... I am not sure if they were trying to get us out in a hurry or not but she brought the bill and the debit machine before we even asked. Found it quite rude actually. The machine did not allow for a tip and when I asked her, she told me it did so I asked her to cancel and redo. It did not and she told me not to bother leaving one! I left some cash but was really hesitant to do so. My friend did not. I doubted the cleanliness of the entire place so checked the bathroom. One bulb hanging from the ceiling so couldn’t tell but the decor wasn’t even clean so am sure the rest was questionable. I do not normally write a bad review about a restaurant cause I try to give them the benefit of the doubt but when I read all the others who had similar experiences, I felt I needed to share mine. We were going to leave before we were even served but I talked my friend in to staying. As I said, the food was decent but it is hard to mess up a steak sandwich. (It was served on a bun with aoli / mine was the bottom half of the bun and my friend was the top lol). I will not go back nor would I recommend until they ”clean” up their act!More
