My wife and I looked forward to great Chinese food at Mott 32 during a recent visit to Vancouver. We were very disappointed. The staff, and the somm were attentive and knowledgeable, but the food was very mediocre. We ordered more food than we would...ordinarily require, including pre-dinner cocktails and a bottle of wine with dinner, but we wanted to sample things. The cocktails were good, although very modest-sized by American standards. It went downhill from there. The egg rolls were greasy and ordinary. We ordered the ‘special’ lobster dish, which as far as we could tell had no lobster except the remnants of a lobster shell for decoration - and mounds of gelatinous tofu. The fried rice was no better than the run-of-the-mill Chinese take out place. The other dishes have now escaped my memory because they were completely ordinary. This experience cost almost $400 US for a couple. To add insult to injury, we had to enter a building with a huge Trump sign across the front. Not the highlight of our trip!More
