This primarily French restaurant was recommended by our hotel. It is open from lunch time through dinner. Several tables were available outside along with seating at the bar area inside or one of many tables inside. When we arrived around 2:00 we were the only...ones in the restaurant but by 3:00, all the outside tables and most in the main dining room were full. The wait staff and bartenders worked non-stop and efficiently to serve the crowd. There were many plates to share, salads, sandwiches, and full course meals offered. Hubby started with an unusual twist on a Vietnamese eggroll called a Vietnamese Crepe: crispy carrots, daikon radish, green onions, and bean sprouts in a sweet and sour sauce called nuoc cham. This was served inside a crispy, folded, flat crepe which seemed to be non-traditional as it was very crisp, but tasty. Hubby and I shared the beef tartare: chunks of freshly prepared, hand cut flat iron steak served with cornichons, fried capers, shallots, and grainy Dijon mustard. This was accompanied by brioche crisps. It was attractively presented and delicious! We then shared the tuna tartare, one of my personal favorites: small cubes of freshly prepared ahi grade tuna served with avocado, sambal ( a mildly spicy/peppery mixture added in the tuna), sesame seeds, and green onions served with house made crispy wontons. Loved it!!!! This was followed by a baby spinach salad (normally it would have frisee but I requested only spinach), hardboiled egg, seared yellow fin tuna, cucumber, Greek olives, and a basil-anchovy vinaigrette. Each dish was freshly prepared. The service was impeccable and friendly. There is a separate fresh oysters menu, if one so desires. The drinks were well made at the full bar. There are also about 20 different beers on draft. The wine list leans toward local but includes California and French wines. All in all, I wonderful place to dine for lunch!More
