We had this at lunch-time (1:15 pm). This is not a "cheap eat." It is, however a High Tea steeped (pun intended) in history and English tradition. The tea (I had Earl Grey, with instructions to let it steep for 6.5 minutes); my wife had...the Empress blend (steeped for 5 minutes) was better than any other cup of Earl Grey I have ever tasted. The raisin scones, with clotted cream and strawberry jam, melted in our mouths. The savoury party sandwiches were delicious, as were the pastries. We kept most of the latter for supper in our room, as the rest of the High Tea was more than enough. We will never splurge so much money on a meal again, but we were glad to have had the chance to sample it, and see if the hype about this experience was warranted.
