Colony on Main Street has been my number one choice of neighbourhood place to go during covid. I was a fairly frequent Happy Hour patron pre-pandemic, but this last year and a half, Colony has been a real life saver. When the whole patio thing...was first introduced, Colony added comfortable, safe-feeling outside tables, and didnt do what so many Main St restaurants did by splitting tables with plexiglass and having unrelated parties sit together. Instead, Colony seemed okay with their limited number of tables and went on as normal. I never felt that Colony was trying to squeeze more customers in to their limited space than was safe, and I really valued that. Because we could see the staff at Colony were serious about covid health and safety precautions, my bubble friends and I started coming more regularly as we felt safe and taken care of. As a result, I estimate we've been to Colony at least three times a week over the last 18 months. Based on all this first hand experience, I can report that service is super competent, friendly, and welcoming, but not intrusive or insincere. I've seen servers help disabled customers with cutting up their food even though they were busy with other tables. I've seen servers graciously yet professionally handle tables of rude, groping patrons who behaved as if servers were there for their entertainment. I've never had a negative experience at Colony related to their food, service, or atmosphere; the last couple of times I was there I got some mosquito bites from sitting outside, but I'm pretty sure the staff can't be blamed for that. I may not be the most objective reviewer of Colony given how much time I spend there, but if I didn't enjoy myself while there, or if I felt I was receiving substandard service, value, or food, I would stop going; there are A LOT of other restaurants in Mount Pleasant. With apologies for incorrect spelling, special shoutout to the staff who have made covid 100% more tolerable by being friendly, professional, and always engaging - Jordan, Jessie, Teama, Alex, Jaycee. Some newer staff - Ivy and Emily - have also been great, plus a few others whose names we don't yet know. Particularly recommended dishes are the Glory Bowl salad (not sure who came up with that name) and the Broken Yolk Sandwich available on the weekend brunch menu. Always available is an impressive variety of rotating beer options from local breweries. Thanks Colony for feeding and welcoming us when being stuck at home was so depressing and boring, you've made covid-life worth living! PS - please NEVER stop serving the Glory Bowl. Seriously.
