It was a hot weekend, so I wanted to pickup something that was simple and light for dinner, so the idea of getting some poke popped in my mind. Althought I've eaten plenty of poke in Hawaii, I've never actually gone to a poke restaurant...in Vancouver until now. I'm a little bit of a purist, so in my mind, poke should just be marinated raw fish and rice, but having had a bowl here, I can see why it gets dressed up to make it more mainstream. When I stopped by, there was no line. I ended up ordering the Chief and Feature Sheet Special. Overall, I enjoyed them both. Not a lot of fish, but good amounts of vegetables to make it more balanced. At $15 per regular bowl, it seemed a bit expensive, but the area is expensive. Service was friendly. It's like Subway where you place your order, have it customized as you like, and then pay before you leave the order counter. This place is primarly for the local workers and residents, because street parking is incredibly expensive and easily adds a $1 just to have enough time to pickup your food, or $2 if you want to sit down and eat it too. Overall, it was a good meal. Nothing outstanding by any means, but a decent bowl of poke.
