We went twice at Magnolia, first time for dinner and second time for lunch, in the span of 1 week and both outings were above expectations. Excellent value, service & food, everything fell neatly into place. Service is attentive, sincere and effacé, just a perfect...balance of attention and execution - above average. Decor is modern and airy with lines reminding the patrons they might be on an ocean liner, very peaceful. I had the hanger steak ($19) and added bone marrow for an extra ($4) and everything was executed perfectly. Appetizers were a trio of fennel, mushrooms and the real standouts here were the « Caesar sucrines » - think mini Caesars. Bottle of wine $50, total came out to $142 with tax & service. I would compare it to Hoogan & Beaufort nearby with Magnolia coming out as the superior choice for good value. Highly recommended, this was my first outing of 2019 and certainly set the tone for another competitive year on the Montreal restaurant scene : Magnolia was magnificent and I will be back here.
