Great Cannon 2 for 1 Pizza was a genuine surprise. My partner and I have driven past this little pizza shop countless times, but never tried it until last night. Going in, I admit expectations were quite low; in fact, I was thinking that the...pizza would be similar in quality to, say, Freshslice. In a couple of words: cheap pizza. I’m happy to admit that I was wrong in my pre-assessment. We ordered buffalo wings, the “Garlic Pizza,” and cheesy garlic fingers. I felt that the wings were of decent quality. They were nicely cooked, well-sauced and had a nice amount of heat to them. In short, they were your standard pizza joint wings, which is good. I figure if a pizza place can’t do decent wings then they’re not worth your time. As for the cheesy garlic fingers, they were OK, but I probably wouldn’t order them again. They seemed a little tough to me and didn’t carry much in the way of flavor. At least they were only $4.99 (for 24, no less). Now, where Great Cannon gets high points from me is on their pizza. As I noted above, we ordered the garlic pizza, which featured fresh mushrooms, fresh garlic, garlic sausage and feta cheese. Wow! What a pleasant surprise this pizza was: It wasn’t greasy, it was fresh (made to order) and was flavorful. And to think I was expecting nothing more than food court pizza. A number of Google reviews, plus the lone TripAdvisor review, all note that the “pizza by the slice” sucks. In the interest of full disclosure, I will say I’ve never tried their pizza by the slice, but the fact that it’s gotten mixed reviews doesn’t really surprise me. Unless a place is high traffic (which I doubt Great Cannon is), then chances are the “by the slice” will have sat for a while under warming lights. Thus, I’d suggest if you want good “by the slice” pizza then go to Ali Baba Pizza. Great Cannon 2 for 1 Pizza’s strength, I think, is in the fresh-made, to go orders. FOOD: 3.75/5 SERVICE: 4/5 VALUE: 4/5 RECOMMENDATION: Based on our experience, I would order from here again. In fact, there are a couple more pizza types I’d like to try. The pizza and wings were of good quality and had a fair price to match. I always like it when I’m genuinely surprised by a place – and Great Cannon 2 for 1 did just that. Recommended!
