I decided to risk it and try the ackee and salt fish the other day. Ackee is the national fruit of Jamaica---and if not prepared properly it can be lethal. This was prepared properly as I'm still here to write about it. Looking at it...mixed with vegetables you might think it was a vegetable. The salt fish----I think it was cod---I was concerned about it being too salty. Well, when that dish is served with the wonderful bean rice that James makes, the balance is exquisite. Nothing was too salty, nor was it spicy hot (as some people find Jamaican food). I quite enjoyed it.
