Run by the same family who owns and operates Corrientes Argentine Pizzeria in downtown Winnipeg, this is a great little find. Nestled close to the St. Vital Centre and Banville & Jones on St. Mary's Road, you can pop in for a take-home order of...empanadas, choosing from about some 20 different kinds. Each empanada can be identified by its unique pastry design. They even supply you a "roadmap" to tell them apart when you take them out of your oven. I've tried over half of them now and find it hard to choose a favorite. This is a reasonably priced option for a staff luncheon. I ordered empanadas and added a Caesar salad for a staff event one day in spring. It was a great hit. Many of my staff now have made the trip over to the shop to order for their own families- a fast dinner option. The shop has a little eating area where you can enjoy a lunch or snack on site- they also have desserts and drinks. One of my children is vegan, and when home makes, sure to take some of their vegan-option empanadas (and the free jar of chimichurri sauce you get when you buy a dozen) back home to Toronto. One of my Torontonians thinks it's the best chimichurri they've tasted. You can see the kitchen from the counter, and I got to watch the chef make it I with fresh ingredients right on site,More
