While in Vancouver we were encouraged to try a Korean BBQ restaurant in the West Point Grey area called “The Kitchen”. This is a TINY place and the first time we went there it was completely packed with customers all of whom were Korean. Our...wait time was going to be 30 minutes so we tried to make reservations there but they do not take them. Their policy is “first come first served”. So we decided to return the next evening at an earlier time. On our next attempt, we were more successful. The place holds about 22 people so you need to be prepared to wait. After a short 10 minute wait we were seated. Once again, we were almost the only non- Korean patrons. This is usually a good sign if you appreciate Korean food. While we were eating the line-up got longer and longer and there actually were people waiting outside on the sidewalk. We were not disappointed as the food is authentic Korean. If you like kimchi and Korean BBQ this is the place to go. We ordered a variety of dishes including a hot pot with octopus, BBQ short ribs, a noodle dish, and side dishes of rice which for some reason is included in some dishes but not others. The food and service were excellent. Our food arrived within 10 minutes.The prices were a little on the high side for the large BBQ ribs ($29.00) but I thought everything else was reasonably priced. The tea they serve is roast corn tea and quite good. Be advised they are closed Mondays and Tuesdays. My only less than positive comment is that the place heats and steams up quickly as almost every customer ordered a bubbling, steaming hot pot to share so dress in layers so you can strip down as the kimchi and spices start to kick in. This place was well worth a visit and our hosts that suggested it will being going back for their 5th or 6th visit.
