I love Asian food and have eaten from many places in my lifetime. I was excited to try this place based on the reviews and how long it has been in business. The visit started strong but went downhill from there. We were seated promptly...and provided menus with information (its a bit confusing and explanation was helpful). We ordered one of their sampling plates for 4 people. It started with a lovely fruit drink. Then each of us was served with a soup from the two selections given. Very enjoyable and nice flavours. Next each of us received an appetizer plate with four sections - mini spring rolls, a sauce for the spring rolls, a tomato base noodle dish, and a green salad with a sweet dressing. This was a nice sampling of different flavours and textures. This is where things started to go downhill. The meal was brought out in a round tray with sections, a different dish in each section. The amount of food in each being quite small, and we all assumed they would bring two of these. Indeed when we ordered it was explained that this assortment needed to be ordered with a minimum of 2 to share each combination. And we watched as nearby tables of two people received the same sized tray with servings appearing to be of the same size. Two small side bowls of rice accompanied the single tray. They confirmed that no other combo trays were coming. This was it for all of us (all women but one, with average appetites). The shrimp were well cooked, as was the chicken. The flavouring was bland for the rice and one of the dishes; somewhat more flavourful for a couple of the others. We all rationed the food and had smallest sampling sizes to ensure everyone could try some. We were all able to have a second round of mini sampling, with only some of the bland rice remaining. The main meal over, we were keen to try the desert that came with our table d’hôte, especially since none of us were full from the meal. The menu arrived and we made our selections and waited. And waited. And waited. We tried catching waiters attention and one stopped to clear a dish and we asked to order, and was told someone would be by. Then a waiter noticed us all just sitting there, and stopped by the table and we indicated we wanted to order desert and they left saying someone would be by. Then someone finally came and didn’t want to take our order and said “we recommend a sample platter for desert”. We weren’t doing that again as we fully expected that, like the meal, this would result in less food spread amongst us. And at this point we long knew what we wanted to eat, having selected it 20 minutes earlier as we sat waiting. We politely declined the desert sharing platter and ordered, asking also for the bill. We were told the bill will be later. Desert arrived and we again asked for the bill. Twice more we asked for the bill before finally getting it. While the bill says to pay at the table, we were instructed to go to the front to pay. The front desk serves also a hotel upstairs. We stood there in line waiting patiently to pay. The hotel guests cleared the space and the lady behind the desk walked right past us into the restaurant, as we stood there holding our bills in hand. Left standing there for another 5-10 minutes, the lady finally came back and was confused, asking us why we were there, and then confused which table we had come from. From the time we were ready to order desert until we finally got out of there was more than one hour. Total time was nearly 3 hours. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. There are so many options out there that this experience does not warrant repeating. Too bad. I really wanted it to be an amazing evening to our visit to Quebec City.
